What do I eat for Breakfast?

Commonly, I have patients explain to me that breakfast is difficult for many reasons. Sometimes, there is a restriction on time in the morning, sometimes we have something come up and don’t have time to prep that day. Sometimes, we have no appetite.

Is it important to eat breakfast? Or should we skip it?

Typically, I tell my patients to listen to their body when it comes to food, but sometimes this can be difficult if we don’t know what our body is telling us. I am finding that a lot of us aren’t aware of hunger and fullness cues, so it can be difficult to determine when our body is telling us it’s time to eat. With this in mind, it can be important to structure your day around regular meals and snacks – so you’re not going too long without eating. By not skipping or delaying meals, your appetite will more likely be regulated and you can start determining what hunger and fullness look like for you.
